Emergency Kit Must-Haves
The big day is finally here! The countdown is finally over and you are enjoying getting ready and preparing to walk down the aisle but you look in the mirror and realize there is a small stain on your dress. Your heart drops when you realize amidst all the planning you forgot to pack an emergency kit for the day of. If this is your worst nightmare like it would be mine, follow along for some must-haves when it comes to your day of emergency kit!
Keep in mind these are just things I have found to be useful and you might have your own must-haves for your emergency kit! That's the beauty of an emergency kit, none are the same.
Makeup Must-Haves
Makeup is one of the most exciting parts of getting ready for the day. I mean how often are you having your makeup professionally done? With a terrific MUA hopefully, there won’t be any hiccups but you never know what the day might bring! From crying tears of joy down the aisle to sweating from breaking it down on the dance floor, even waterproof makeup can sometimes waver. To ensure you’re not holding back at all I think these things can reassure you that no matter how much fun you have on your day, your makeup will still look picture-perfect.
Setting Powder: I think if you are going to have any makeup products in your kit, this is a must. The entire day you are wearing a heavy dress, walking in heels, and probably shedding a few tears. Your face is bound to be a bit sweaty and even oily and that’s ok! But, most people don’t want this reflected in their photos, so being able to step into the bathroom, throw on some powder, and walk right back out within seconds to not miss too much is invaluable on the big day.
Lipgloss/Lipstick: Depending on what you started the day with, your MUA used it on you for a reason! It probably brings the whole look together and compliments your natural features. Throughout the day, who doesn’t want to touch up their lips a bit when the color starts to fade?
Concealer: I don’t know about you but when I’ve been crying this is the first thing to go on my face because I am wiping it off by using a tissue. I have been to too many ceremonies to know they are quite the tear-jerker and for good reason! This allows you to fully feel your overwhelming emotions on the day and not worry about how it will affect those under eyes.
Hair Helpers
I don’t know about you but I think hair can completely alter your look depending on whether you wear it up, down, curled, straight, etc. A lot of time goes into how you do your hair day of so let’s make sure we keep it intact!
Hairspray: This is probably a given but with the wind up in the mountains, you don’t want it to take your hairstyle away with it and hairspray can help prevent that. This is a must when shopping for what to put in that kit!
Bobby Pins: These are great for keeping your hairstyle looking consistent throughout the day but I also think they are fun for changing up your hairstyle throughout the night. If you committed to wearing your hair down the entire day, it could be nice to use a few pins to seamlessly pull those strands out of your face to get out on the dance floor. Just an idea!
Dress Doctor
Ok maybe the word doctor is a bit dramatic for these items but they do work some serious magic! Most girls grow up dreaming about the dress they might want to wear on their big day so keeping it as pristine as possible is a necessity.
Stain Remover Pen: These are great for accidents that happen in the spur of the moment. Whether it's a bit of orange juice from the mimosas in the bridal suite or some sauce from the entree, it’s important to keep one of these guys on you for an emergency clean.
White Chalk: Yes you read that right…chalk! This is crucial for some discoloration that might still be leftover from that little stain. This helps mask it so you can quickly apply it and go on without having to think twice about that little spot.
What about the bridesmaids?
Now with these taken care of you might be thinking, what about your bridesmaids? I recommend every bridesmaid have their own emergency kit. I reference in my blog about the perfect bridesmaid proposal maybe getting each bridesmaid a customized mini cosmetic bag. This way on the big day each person has all their little must-haves for any makeup or fashion emergencies!
Theirs might not be as extensive like needing white chalk but it doesnt hurt to have some items for quick touch-ups.
Let's be clear, your makeup and hair don't have to look absolutely perfect the whole day to feel good. Apart of the beauty of photographs is capturing the day in its entirety and everything that comes with it. But, at times it can give you an extra boost of confidence knowing you have these small items in your kit.
